Vegan MoFo! Day 31: ecoVegan Blissful Bites review

I was so excited to have won a Vegan MoFo giveaway earlier this month. I won the ecoVegan Blissful Bites giveaway back on October 10th.

These are some faux beef little bits of protein. The cooking recommendations are to saute them in water, so I like the low-fat focus on these guys. I cooked them up in water with onions, garlic, green and red bell pepper and braising greens. For a side dish I made some roasted sweet potato with chili powder, cumin and cayenne and served with some ketchup.

The Blissful Bits were okay, but a little weird. They have a similar texture to processed meat, like Spaghetti-Os meatballs. It worked in a veggie dense stir-fry like this, but I don’t think I could eat them on their own. They are also pretty salty, but I didn’t salt the veggies so it balanced out. I find that I’m getting less and less into faux meats, beyond the novelty of trying a new one, so I’m not sure I’d buy this one again. (The one exception are those irresistible Gardein tenders…) I think these would be great for new vegans or exploring vegans to try out in a stir-fry. And the company seems pretty cool, so maybe I’ll try some of their other products.
